Could your brain be shrinking?
New scientific evidence proves that certain thoughts can physically shrink your brain as much as 20 percent! Dr. S. Lupien of Montreal’s prestigious McGill University studied brain scans of 92 people over a period of 15 years. She found the brains of those with negative self-esteem were shrinking away.
Their brains actually became 20% smaller than those who felt good about themselves. These people also performed significantly worse in memory and learning tests.
But Dr. Lupien believes those with a negative mind set could reverse their mental decline Most of today’s neuro-scientists agree. The brain is no longer thought to be a fixed organ. And the old assumption that brain atrophy is permanent has been reversed. We now know the brain is constantly changing, and can grow all the way into old age.
The Dangers of a Negative Mind Set
There’s also hard scientific proof that negative thinking not only leads to mental impairment, it also has direct physical ties. A long list of studies have attached low self-esteem to: chronic depression, eating disorders, addiction, learning disorders, nervous disorders, cancer and heart disease.
Our thoughts are real, they can be measured and observed, and they literally create our personal reality. Low self-esteem is not just a “psychological” issue. Your self-esteem is at the very core of your being. It molds everything you believe about yourself.
Any change in your life conditions (including your level of business success) must begin with a change to your self-esteem — with how you view yourself, and the world around you.
